Which TV?
I side by side compared sony vega and toshiba on the same high def signal (in our store, we sell both) and i bought the sony. Whichever u like tho. Mine is a 46" vega widesvreen, but we also have a 57" toshiba wide, and i like them both.
I'd opt for the VVEGA.
Hey, Eastside, you're in America. Why not check if Sony has some XBR TV's available? Do they still make XBR? Now that's a TV.
Look for the KV36XBR800 *drooooooool*

My buddy had the 32 or 36" toshiba and sent it back in the bottom right/left corners it would look like the colour was getting sucked out kinda like a magnet was put to it... he just said screw it sent it back and went with a normal old tube... I have the 27" vvega and it's perfect awesome picture... I think when I go bigger it will be with a Projector gonna pay out like 2-3grand why not get something that you can select the tv size you want.....just seems more logical
Yeah I prefer Tube TV's. I like the way the picture looks better. And yeah anyway I found a picture of that XBR, and yeah it looks awesome. But the price is around like $2,000. I can't afford something like that right now. LOL! But it looks sooooooo cool!
Personally I would not buy any tv that is not HD ready.
But if I had to choose between either tv the Toshiba is the better value. Sony, while great TV's have always been more epxensive. In the early 60/70's Sony trinitron TV's could not be beat for PQ, but in the last 10years Toshiba, Panasonic and Hitachi have made TV's that are as good, and some cases better than the higher priced sony tv's.
But hey, that is just my opionion...what do I know anyways???
And the Sony line is know as Vega (only one V - the second V is just a dropshadow that has suceeded in confusing everybody. Some people still call it the Wega, included Best Buy.)

^^^ I just add the VV because that is how it appears on the box. I know it is Vega. Anyone should know that regardless of if they are told that. Because what kind of company would name a TV line the WEGA? lol that just sounds stupid.
And as far as HD ready is concerned, I really don't think that HD is going to be incorperated in absolutley every form of Television for a while yet. And furthermore, HD TV's no matter what size cost an arm and a leg still. I was looking at HD TV's and the damn things cost like 300 bucks extra compared to the same size non HD TV. In a few years when the prices on those HD's drop I will pick one up. But I don't want to buy one now because they are still too expensive. And personally I see very little difference in the picture quality. I've looked at tons of TV's, both HD and not, and I can barely tell a difference between the two. So I would rather just stick with a normal TV for now.
