Well Im looking at financing a new TV, but I'm not sure what to get...
Plasma -- I'd like because it's very skinny, and probably a lot lighter than a traditional.. Also the bling factor is through the roof! Problem is the burnout time.. some are 60 000 hours until its at half brightness. Also, burn-in, as I do play some video games..
LCD -- Nice clear picture (I think it looks better than plasma) small, and bling once again.. Problem is I hear a lot about dead pixels.. My monitor is fine so far and I've had it about a year. Also, can you fix a dead pixel on them?
DLP -- I've been hearing a lot about these guys. NO burn in, no brightness fading, and no dead pixels.. But they're still wide and probably real heavy. Very interested in these.
Rear Projection -- Notta chance. I liek to see my TV from other places than just straight in front of it

What do you guys think?!?

 

Problem is the burnout time that is not the big thing with Plasma burn-in time is fast also look to see if in 9x16 pic do/can you see the info where the score is

personally picked up an LCD rear projection tv a bit back, i'm really happy with it, though i haven't really had anything for HD signals on it...except for one channel with no sound

But yeah....i when i looked about 5 months ago, i was overall pretty impressed with most of the tv's, salesman at a few places said they could see i udnno what in the DLP tv's, but i never saw it.

 

the wifes bro bought a crt rear projection it's alrighty from movies/games but anythin else you can see like dot crawl or whatever you call it not the clearest picture in the world...But if i had it handed to me for free or very good price then I'd take one..

 

Personally, I would not finance a TV.
Save up some dough and only spend what you can afford.

Doesn't matter wether you finance or buy it out right doesn't change anything.. you still get the same warranty regardless.. Of course the idea is to pay it off before the 1 or 3 years is up... alot easier on the pocket....

 

I'm just trying to get a credit rating established, so I can get a loan for a car in the future.. I figured wanting a new TV, I'd just finance one.

I'm really leaning towards an LCD though. Picture from the three listed are pretty close to the same. I'm not sure If I'll get HD or not.

 

If you don't get HD you'll regret it later. Although there's not a lot of programming available right now, the US has mandated that all major programming by 2007 must be HD.
It would be better to spend a little more now then to have to buy another whole new set in a couple years.

Television stations serving all markets in the United States are airing digital television programming, although they still must provide analog programming until the target date set by Congress for the completion of the transition to DTV - December 31, 2006. That date may be extended, however, until most homes (85%) in an area are able to watch the DTV programming. At that point, broadcasting on the current (analog) channels will end and most of that spectrum will be put to other uses.

Until the transition to DTV is complete, television stations will continue broadcasting on both their digital and analog channels.
