Shaw Cable digital cable box??
#1
So,
I thought I would see what my TV looks like with the regular cable signal instead of going through the digital cable box.
I have about 50 channels on regular cable and of those 50 about 5 of them have a worse picture than when using the digital box.
The rest of the channels are clearer with brighter colors.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Looks like I might have been paying the extra cash for a cool menu system.

S-VHS?
You mean s-video?
If the unit does not have component video outputs then the signal you are sending to the tv will be no better than over regular cable.
You need a HD reciever a HDTV and you need to recieve HD encoded programs to see a noticable difference.

Sorry, typing faster than my brain is thinking, yes a S-Video cable.
It is not A HD box, they still call it 'digital cable' and talk about better picture & sound.
I have a HDTV and see a huge difference in pic quality when on DVD.
I might try a HD satellite in the fall.

on Rogers, the only "digital" channels are 60 and above -- I find that 60-63 are good and the US stations 131-134 are good too -- I watch the US stations for Monday Night Football -- the only real advantage is the 5.1 digital sound for 60-63 -- Satellite is far better than cable.

i used to work for shaw. theres only a few channels that are actually digital. the rest are just your regular analog rf action. the cable box just allows you to recieve the digital channels it doesnt improve the analog ones at all.
