I would go with Alienware computers. If you don't get too crazy with options it won't be too expensive and they are very good computers, Better then any Dell, HP, Comcrap, Gateway or any other brand computers except maybe Falcon North.

O I never read it was for your mom.

I would just go to Futureshop or Dell and I am sure dell does financing!

Alienware has systems for games, work places and normal home useage! Their game systems are among the best as are their workstationsand home PC's. They could get expensive but thats if you have to have the best!

I go to school and we have about 25 2.4 Ghz Dells there and I know now never to get a dell. I am not saying that all of them suck but my experiance with them is bad. I would rather go with a HP or something like that!

Dell is the best of the brand name computers, IMO. HP sucks ...

hmmm i agree with you guys i'm not a big fan of premade machines like that. I'd prefer to just build one for her, and not get all teh useless stuff with them. I also wish she'd do a loan thru a bank or line of credit or whatever, but she keeps telling me thats not an option (maybe teh bank don't like her - although they'll check credit for financing too :S).

Either way, good idea on the local shop, I don't live with her so it's tough to check that kinda stuff out, but i'll tell my pops to maybe look into that and see if it's an option or not. Vernon, BC ain't a huge place and i dunno what they have for actual computer stores, but i'm sure there's one or two!

Apart from that, dell looks to be about the only place that i could get kinda what i wanted and for the best price.

PC Requiremens:

lookin like p4 2.8ish Ghz (or amd 2500+), 512 ram, 40gb hd would be enough, onboard video/sound is fine. Needs onboard lan. She has a decent plextor CDRW i gave her, but wants to give it to her assistant (along with current pc). So it'd need a CDRW, doesn't need another cd-rom or dvd-rom. Does not need floppy. Software isn't important. Warrenty wouldn't hurt (my dad likes to wreck stuff, as well they/he kinda annoys me sometimes with his wrecking stuff and thinkin he knows what hes talkin about when really he doesn't). Lastly she wants a 15" LCD/flat screen (space saver), but not a necessity.

All she really does is clerical work, makes flyers/posters on the pc, runs her mary kay business software....place solitaire lol, yells at me online etc.
