Here, at work, we use lexan shields for many things, 1/4 inch thick usually. One got hit with a forklift, and is now in 5 peices on my work bench. The peice was painted with black and yellow stripes to warn of danger. I had origionally made the sheet, 4' by 8', myself. What I am wondering is, if I melt it down again, can i seperate the paint from the lexan, or what is the best way to do this?

 

gonna need a big mold.. Waste of time.

i already have the mold But, will the paint seperate if i melt it, or how should i do that? Is it worth it to try to find a 4x8x1/4 sheet? I usually just use blocks, and scraps to make my sheets...I don't really want to make another one when i have these peices if i don't have to.

I'm not really supposed to say what we make, but, basically what i do is make little parts for things that make them work and look good, I also do some of the equiptment repairs for our factory. We make some of the machines that make some of the stuff you probably use every day

You'll probably end up with funny coloured plexi! But then again, the paint is dry so if you melt it at a temp below the melting of the dried paint I couldn't understand why you couldn't just remove the paint flecks carefully.

 

just sand it off before you melt it.

 

damn, i hate sanding. i think for now, i'll glue it and brace it with scraps. Thanks anyways, bigmike216.
