1 12"idmax vs 2 12" jlw6v2

i heard that the jlw6v2 sounds nicer than the w7 from numerous people.... therefore i was wondering which one would be better...

12w6v2 (2) vs 12idmax (1)

both being powered by a jl 1000.1

just wondering which would sound louder and which would sound BETTER the sound is the most important, than the loud part trails in after...

thanks.

I prefer the MAX....more detail.

I've only heard a couple of them but from what I heard they were a bit more detailed than the W7.

The W7 on the other hand got a little louder than the MAX but I consider it more on the SQL side and the MAX more geared toward SQ. With the right power both subs are equally impressive.

i already compared w7 with idmax head to head.
the idmax is sloppy compared to the w7, w7 is alot tighter.
the only good thing about the id max, you dont need alot of power and just need a small box.

I'm with Plow on this one. i've heard the W7 and IDMAX in several types of enclosures being fed by various amounts of power and the W7 has stood out as my preferred sub each and everytime.
as for louder, ceteris paribus, the 2 12W6V2 would be my choice. keep in mind that you will have less compression with the two subs.
either the W7 or W6 or IDMAX are excellent subs by most standards... hard to make a bad choice here. if i were designing a system for a good friend, keeping in mind the best bang for the buck (cost/output/weight per sub), i would go for the 2 12W6's. some people even like them over the W7 and IDMAX!

For SQ, I prefer the IDMAX over the W7 (never used the W6v2). But really it comes down to personal preference, they're all great drivers.

However out of those 3 options, it's sort of a no-brainer that the IDMAX would have the least output.

I have tried several subs and now Im sticking with a 12W7 in a SQ setup, can't go wrong with that sub for SQ or SPL imo.

I have a pair of the w6 12"s , not in use any more , and in a ported box with a 1000 watts they will shake the concrete and still sound good .
