hey guys, i am getting an integra shortly and i bought some 15's for it. this will be a sealed box and the dimensions are going to be roughly 30x30x13. the subs are too big to fit side by side so i would have to stagger them facing up. is this a good idea, or will it matter??? my only concern is that when the hatch is closed one sub will be facing more into the car and the other facing more into the hatch. will this affect sound at all?? i will be running roughly 1500-1700rms at these two.

i laid out some cardboard and traced the mounting holes of the subs in my g/fs car (she too has a teg) and it will give you an idea of the general shape of the box. the cardboard is the exact size of what the top of the box would be (actually a little bigger at 32x32).

tell me what you think. also would it be a better choice to go with 4 12's in the same size box but have them side by side in rows?!?

never thought i would see another integra owner with a 15 let alone two!
you'll have a hard time with box height as well, as you only have about 15in before you hit the parcel shelf and depending on how long the box is, the inside of the hatch. also, you are working with a maximum width of about 31" between the shock towers. anymore than that and you will have to remove/cut away the plastic panels.

i have a single 15" sub in a 3 cube vented box. the only way i could fit it in was to have the driver firing upwards, as its too tall to have virtically and still have the parcel shelf and the seats back all the way.

your box design will be fine, as it doesnt matter how they are staggered

 

what u drew out is fine. if u are not doin an spl box it wont matter if one sub is closer to the glass than the other.

 

What year is your car? My buddy had 2 15l5's in his teg (92 or 94 I can't remember) and they fit next to each other no problem.

 

okay great, i just wanted to make sure it won' affect sound too much having them staggered like they are.

as for the heighti measured 13" so that should be enough....i guess always bring it up to 14" if i want. i might taper the box so its 34" up top and 30" in the bottom so i can have them side by side. we'll see....

as for the integra...it's a 95

 

So THAT'S what you bought! I hope that means you're going through with this.

I saw once someone used a cardboard box just like you did with duct tape and built the enclosure in thier trunk , it boomed and then fell apart

No stepping intended its just the first thing that came to mind.

make sure you brace your box if you are running 15's

 

personally i would go with the fiberglass it isnt that hard to do and u can work with fiberglass better then wood
