Stumped and need help

Hi again everyone. Here is where I am at. I bought another classic car that has an old alpine headunit..model 7347. UI like to think I know a fair bit about installing stereos as I have done a few in other cars I have owned, but they were all types with the rca and wired connections with the fuse on the back. This is the first Alpine I have had and it just has a black cable comming out of it.
Now the car has what looks to be 3 amps all Alpine one under the dash I assume for the from 6" door speakers and two in the trunk for ..again ...I assume the 6x9 and these two long thin Alpine boxes.
They are all joined by plug type connectors. The OP Said he was working under the dash and the stereo stopped working. My question is if the headunit has not fuse or red / yellow power wire or fuse on it where the hell do I start LOL.
Do these plug connector join the amps supply power from a cental point???
I am lost I have never seen this set up before...any help would be great...I checked Apline and the net for a Manual but have not found one anywhere.
Thanks
AL

I got into the car a bit more today, the whole system is Alpine except for the rounds and 6x9s.
The car also has a eq with line in and line out to rear speakers and sub. The front amp has power to it but the indicator does not light.
I think if I could get power to the head unit it would work. These round plug type connections did they have a central box or something?
Thanks
AL

You have a DIN connection setup. They were popular until the mid 80s or so. With this setup you provide power to the amp or processor and the deck gets it's power from it. It made wiring simple but running different brands together was a pain.

Look to your EQ or amps for the ignition connection.

Thanks for the reply Dukk. I see the power wire running to the amp mounted up front and it has power to it. The problem is it is a mess of wires under there LOL. So your saying power goes to one of the componets and then branches out from there!
So if the amp has power to it and is pooched then nothing else will work?
Thanks
Al

Pretty much. You can get an adaptor that will decode the DIN plug to power/ground/ign/RCA but then the rest of the gear (if din only, the did make stuff with both types for a couple years) is unusable.

Oh man sometimes you just want to find the wiring guru and kick him square in the nads...After all the time I wasted on this I found a switch buried up under the dash gave it a flick and everything powers up...you gotta be shitting me..whats that a may stereos busted switch so don't steal it LOL.
So if I wanted to change the headunit to something more up dated usb port or even a clock LOL ..can it be done and leave all the other stuff in place?
Thanks Dukk you have been a big help..
