Computer people....i'm kinda stumped/confused (as usual)
#1
So i have about 4 harddrives in my machine, two of which are important.
C: Old windows (original back in the day)
D: New/current windows
Started with C:, then when i upgraded to a faster SATA drive (D i installed windows on it. I left c: cause i wasn't sure what i'd forgot to copy and didn't wanna lose anything. None the less a few months later, i need the 60gb C: and want to format it. I check disk manager and it shows as the system drive, while d shows as boot.
So anywho, me in all my glory thought maybe i could just delete it from being needed. There's a full windows install on D:, don't see why C: is needed. So i deleted most of C: (copied some stuff as backup to d.
Plan was to format C: and do a repair install on D: to get it as the only windows install drive. I tried that, but i couldn't repair D:, it wasn't a windows installation. ARG.
So i ended up making a 3gb partition on C: and installed windows there (freed'd up about 57GB. Once in windows, i just edited the boot.ini file to point to my D: and everything pretty well works peachy. (also had to copy a few system files though i'm not sure if they were needed or not).
Question is. What do i need to have on my D: so that it can function alone and not require the C: to work off of? Can i just cut n paste soem major system files from C: onto my D: so that it has everything it needs??
(Formatting D: is not an option in any which way)
