Help with box, simple please, single 12

I have a JBL GTO 1214D sub, the box i made with a slot port and is a bit too small and its got lots of port noise.

im going to go with JBL's reccomended PVC pipe port, 4"x10" @ 34hz, and the box needs to be 1.75 cu/ft.
a member here before said jbl gives you the 1.75 value taking into account thier port area taken up and the speaker, so with thier port, 1.75 total.

would i just make a box, say equal 1.75 and install my port and speaker?

and i read on kickers website my port should be equal distance from base, back and side for optimum perfomance, so if its 3" away from the back wall it should be 3" away from side wall and 3" away from the bottom, should i stick to this rule?

i have done a bit of research, and used that on my last box, but the port noise and missing lows of my box left me wanting to try to make a second, i have the box out of my car (for winter) so its perfect time to make a new box and re-install ive also used some WinISD, but my lack of specific knowledge limited me to basics, i was very confused by certain specs and graphs Thanks

ok, so after looking around im just going to make a mock JBL box, its demensions are, 22 5/8 W, 14 9/16 H, 10 15/16 W1 and 14 W2, so its a wedge box, but i keep reading those are a bit better to reduce "standing waves".

so if i do build this box, the one question i have is... if i have my sub 1.5" away from top and bottom and side on the left side of the front flat side of the box, and have my port on the same side, port would be a 4"x10" PVC pipe, would it matter how far away my port is from the driver, or the port walls?

like because it IS a wedge box, would it matter if my port is 2" from the bottom of the box or 4" from the base? should i stick to kickers rule i posted above? but im not sure how i would go about using that rule because of the slanted back... help

You shouldn't have any real problems with your vent 2" or more from any surface inside the box.
