Probably been over a year since I last posted in this side of the forum... just would like to see some opinions on this board of sq dudes. So has anyone used ribbons in their car? I know panasonic used to make them a while back, but I figured why not use some nice ones made for home. What I'm concerned about is how durable they are... weather resistant etc. Do they handle the cold well?

In addition, Genesis recently released a dual concentric tweet... similar to the vifa/scanspeak ones. I've heard a bit about their great off axis response and would like to know if anyone has had experience with them.

Thanks in advance for responses!

I have seen some installs using those infinity EMIT tweeters. They seemed like a smart design, but I'm not too sure of the pros/cons. Anyone have any information?

The EMIT tweeters were a bit much in Infinity's smaller speakers RS-3 and smaller. They would be pretty zingy (that is a word right) in near field listening but I really loved the RS-1B I thought it was the best speaker available till the Apogee Diva and Duetta Signature. The RS-1B had, 2 bass towers with servo controlled woofers, and the EMIT wasnt overpowered by the bass.

My opinion is the emits could be overpowering in a car. BUT they are such a good HF driver... someone with time and the right supporting drivers could make them balance out.

I haven't actually heard the emits, so I can't say much about them. By the sound of your opinion, I wouldn't mind getting had hand on a pair. Currently I'm usint Hi-Vi RT1C ribbons in series with my silks so the highs won't seem as overpowering. The extreme highs are much clearer, but I'm having problems with the 'cohesiveness' of the setup... do you think that timbre matching for tweets is an issue?

I did some work with the Emits in A Pillars, I found that if crossed (16k) over high enough they added a good even amount of "air" to the sound stage, making a rainbow effect almost perfectly flat. I wouldn't run them as a main tweeter though

Chinaman, my dad works for Hi-Vi (Also known as Swan) I'm very familiar with that tweeter, I've got them in my home theater system.

How the heck did you mount that sucker, they aren't tiny?
