Hello
I played with a set of the EMIT and EMIM from Infinity about 6 years ago (borrowed from a friend while he was vacationing) and found they are very harsh, similar to a hard metal dome tweet. I had a 3W H/K amp for each and still had to knock them down 4-5 dB from what I remember. I was using some Pioneer 6 1/2" mids with them so that could also be a downside.

They did give a large soundfield and a fair bit more depth over the horns and domes I was also toying with at the time. I didn't have any eq to control the response but they did sound nice once the levels were matched, the biggest improvement being the increased size of the soundfield.

How the heck did you mount that sucker, they aren't tiny?

Wow, your dad works for Hi-Vi!!! You must have a lot of cool drivers/speakers. I saw the Swan booth at CES this year (and last) and they always have those huge beasts during demo. Great speakers.

As for mounting the RT1C's, well... they're not really "officially" mounted. They're just placed there on my dash so I can move them around for positioning. If I had them on my a-pillar, they'd look super silly, 'cause the diameter of those tweets are like 4"!

Out of curiosity, where were those EMIT's mounted?

The EMITS have a circular grill but from the link below they look to be 2.5 x 3.5 inches. They are being sold on eBay 'stinko' cheep so it might be of interest to some of y'all, goodness knows I like cheap!

I am looking into Aurum Cantus, Raven, and Bohlender drivers at the moment, I need to find a sale though!

^ I hadn't thought of that. Some ribbons (Aurum, Raven)are also pricey and DEEP a real pain to place in a car and so detailed and revealing they could easily dominate the sound in the vehicle

My dad used a set of Ravens in a design a couple of years ago. He loves them, except they are fragile. I believe he has a box of spare diaphrams and transformers for his personal speakers. Great driver though!

Hey ChinaMan
I removed the heating vents on either side of the dash and recessed them about 3/4". This was in a '79 Malibu. I velcroed ? the EMIM's slightly above the Pioneer mids, looked kinda funny but had potential.
