right now as it stands to continue supporting the industry I need to find a better place to run shows... it's not fair to you guys to shut down early because of noise complaints... so I still have 5 shows left to do this year... if anyone in KW or area is willing to help we can get something going here </font>[/QUOTE]It's a problem that everyone would have to address.

Competitors need to start supporting the people who throw these shows, and they must realize that they cost money, there are sanctioning fees, prize fees, transportation fees, equipment fees, and the list goes on. And all I hear is that they want cash and trophies all at the same show but want to pay $10 as an entry fee.. I mean get real.. lol.. competitors need to show up to more shows and support the people supporting them. I can think of a handfull of people that actually supported most of the shows that me and Peter through last year.

Retailers need to start supporting the competitors more, they need to dedicate more of thier time to throwing shows, and testing and tuning sessions. And retailers NEED to go after manufacturers for support.

Manufacturers need to step up as well, look at the states how many manufacturers donate to the shows down there. Up here the only shows which I saw manufacturer support was audiothunder and north of the border.

Bottom line - support those who support you.

 

We in car audio competition are failing. Not a portion of us, but ALL of it.

If your not part of the solution your part of the problem.

I agree, we need to support our industry more, but lets face it, we all want the best price we can get on equipment, so that leaves absolutely no margin for the shops that we buy from to hold shows with. As a suggestion, off the top of my head; Why do we not donate our old equipment to shops, such as Maximum Threshold, to sell on consignment and use that money towards holding shows and getting prizes? Also, how about having weekly, or bi-weekly tweak and tune days at a specific location?

Every 2 weeks have a shop open it's bays for competitors to come and tweak things out, and then every month have a competition? if it ws regular, in one place, I'm sure more local interest would be generated. If something like this were in my area, I'd be more than willing to help out as much as I could.

Something like that would take a major commitment on the part of the owner of the shop, and may not be profitable in the short run, but I think that over the long haul, it would be a great idea to further Car Audio in Canada.

this is already how I do it(know others could do it also) I remember when I started... it was soooooo had to get to a shop..nevermind finding one that had a mic and let alone allowed you to use it... Im always willing to help and support the competitors and my customers..they are the ones that keep my shop open...and this is the thing I love doing most... so I try to give as much support as I possibly can... Ive been on your side already... now Im on the shop side but still enjoy being at the comps with all of you... wheather its at my own show or a show at another shop or location... it all can be done if ppl just ivest their time..the best priced equipment is worthless without the support behind it.

a CANADIAN SPL league is definately an option... but who's got the time to organize it?

it could possibly be part of this forum as this is where many of the SPL & SQ guys do find out about shows and such

I have also looked into trying to get a organization started but quickly found out that it is very expensive and complex if you want it done right. RULE BOOK, CD, FEES, TRAINING ETC ETC ETC.

Now I am more then willing to run more shows or bigger shows but the support must be there. MY store AUDIOWAVES ran 3 shows last year and all were succesful as I broke even. I just want to help this industry grow!!!

Having no AUDIOTHUNDER really sucks. SQ guys were shut out of the show last year for the same reason you SPL guys are being ignored this year...

Because of this Brad and I have discussed organizing a big show away from the store. I have the resources to pull this off I just need to work out the location. MECA, and IASCA would both be there.

WHAT DO YOU THINK? one day show or two day show?

hey Jason, with a well developed business and makreting plan all of the things u mentions do not really cost anything. I know the rule book and cd's would be free, unless u get into sq.

 

SQ CDs can be free too, as long as you use clips that are less that 30 seconds long for each song. Besides that, I bet you could get canadian labels to put their songs on the CD for free, as it would get publicity for their artists.

MTA: I know you do this, and I think it's great. I think I set, organized time would be a good thing though, so taht people can be invited, and can know that there'll be other people there.
