I was thinking of heading into Super Street 1-2 NW this year, but I like the idea of being able to stick that big sub-box on my rear seat a la Street Max... I'd only have to remove my rear battery for competition, move the sub box onto the seat, and let'er rip... Or, in SS 1-2 NW, I could leave my second battery in and I'd only have to install a high idle solenoid and fold my rear seat... Oh, the rules say front seats can be folded up. Mine don't fold up, but they lay back... is that allowed? They'll lie right back, headrests resting on the rear seat bottom...

K, I'm worried about the type of "sound damping material" I've used in my van getting me in trouble with dem dare judges...

I bought & installed a roll of 1/8in. (3.175mm) flat rubber to deaden the walls in my cargo van (long before I ever saw a DbDrag event). I used simple 3M spray-on glue, as well as contact cement in some places to stick the rubber on. It cost me under $100 and probably works as good as or better than $1000 worth of official deadener.

It's pliable, but nothing like actual made-for-audio deadeners. That was fine for me, I just did the flat parts of my walls, and inside all doors. All the structural steel is still bare, no deadener at all.

According to the rules:

Sound damping materials may be used to reduce vibration when installed in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommended installation instructions.

And...

All auto sound equipment must be (or have been) commercially available. The determination as to whether a product is (or was) commercially available shall be at the sole discretion of the dBDRA.

There was no install instructions... Is deadener considered auto sound equipment? Must it be brand-named? This is just commercial flat rubber. The rubber is commercially available, I can order & sell a roll for anyone that wants it. Since I am an Optima dealer, and Orbital dealer, and sell cabling, wiring, connectors, etc. etc., do I count as an auto-sound dealer?

Also, I have a small layer of fibreglass insulation in the bottoms of my front doors, not the whole doors as the windows still need to operate, just a single layer at the bottom. It helped reduce tire noise coming from through the bottom door vents... My sliding door and rear doors however, I stuffed full, again to reduce exterior/tire noise more so than to improve sound. I can find no mention about the use of fibreglass insulation, only expanding foam, which I've used none..... Am I worried for no reason? Does fibreglass insulation count the same as expanding foam? Should I pull the fibreglass out?

hmmm What else... there was something... bah, it's late... g'nite all.
