You (or whomever, I don't know the backbone of this website) runs this domain and everything about it. So therefore, I don't think you should expect freebies from its members. I use to post pictures, waste all of my time trying to get them on this forum ... the process has become easier (to post and host pictures) but there's no push for pictures. The section is weak so essentially it's going in "The After Thread", where I'm showing pictures to what ... 10 people? Forget it.
You guys should be using pictures as a form of promotion but I don't think anyone around here knows how to do that ...

What I meant by "Staff On Hand" was having a section ... like a "Ask Us" section if you will, let people submit questions and let "Experts" put in answers ... or better yet, why don't you guys come up with something that's google-worthy that BRINGS people to this site. Like, "How to install a stereo" ...
You SORTA have some threads stickied and going ... that other members have suggested ... but things like "How To Do The Big 3" and "What is the Big 3" would be a HUGE pull to this website. Pictures, step by step, the whole 9. Not here, people go elsewhere.

Yeah, I want someone else to do competitor profiles. You approach the competitors with a layout. You tell them hey, I'm interested in having you featured on our website, going to go on the front, people can click on your picture and learn about your car, what brought you to car audio and this website, etc etc ... again, you want ME (or someone else) to do the work for you. WHO RUNS THIS WEBSITE - NOT ME

Signature banner ads. I'm talking about flashing banners that people can put on Facebook and in my signature on this website and in my signature on all the other forums I go on ... instead of saying "Hey, I have this cool audio website, click these words" with a hyper link. No, give me a damn picture they can click on.

You think I'm making **** up about the Classified Section, your kidding yourself. I've had this conversation with other members already outside of this forum and they too agree, the classified section on this website is going to head downhill if nobody weeds out the fakes that are here.
When somebody multi posts day after day ... or has 8 new items for sale with stock photos ... I mean c'mon, I don't want to pull out SPECIFIC examples.
All I'm suggesting is that you guys moderate the classifieds. That's all.
And I won't post in it until there's a delete function. Until then, I take my business of selling my used stuff elsewhere (very rarely will I post ANYTHING on this website - sorry guys).

If I didn't give a f*ck about this website, I wouldn't spend 10 minutes typing this out. And that's more than I can say for 95% of your active member base that's on this website right now. So stop barking down my neck.
Again, no need to ban Jalat. No need to bark at me.
i agree with this character. some things could be done to spice up the website. like the user/competitor profile with a banner to go in your sig would be nice. it would also work well for cca as people could place these same banners in their sigs on other forums, hence ing cca around and having other sites (unvolunteraly) link to cca, which helps with SEO a great deal.

Nice banner Yuli ... I want to see some videos, so I'm going to click it.
Oh snap, I think I'll click that YouTube ad too.

dammit, good post require good reply.. lol.. i was hoping to get some lunch. LOL

Seriously, what you wrote is awesome and I want to touch on a few things. Your response is what IMO this site lacks at times, genuine input.

I agree 100% with the picture related comments. I too have posted event pictures in the past and with the exception of the green truck drama, no one cares. They dont reply, they have 0 input.
I guess people like to look, not reply. Problem is we cant force them them to participate, albeit I would very much like it if they did.

I have a solution for that which we use on another forum.... it is something I will bring to the table and see where it goes in the next few weeks. It takes a bit of effort but hopefully 'it' will be something in the right direction.

Agreed. But for us, we almost need someone fulltime to manage others who might put those together. People do love that stuff, but that stuff isnt here.
I have no issues giving FTP access, ad free membership and mod ability to the right person who can handle such a task. I am sure there is currently how to type articles here we could already be putting to use for new members. We can add drop down menu links, a page with the links or whatever!!

A template could be built, people could use it, auto input and auto placement. It really isnt a huge task... BUT... i wanted to code something unique for CCA in the past and I spoke to two members here, 1 a sanctioning judge who didnt return my call or emails and 1 active member. The member felt there was no need for it here and the other guy just was a non-responder.
It isnt as though ideas aren't out there. I am not a developer by trade, so any large changes are paid for by subscribers and sponsors.

I dont think that is too difficult to do. Perhaps I can work on something for that as well. Perhaps a page where members can pick from say 100 signatures.... lol, more work!

Proof. That is the biggest issue here. Like all forums it is buyer beware. You would think in this day and age people would put up pics etc, but they dont.
How do we know who is a fake and who isnt. Who is a tech savvy teen and who is a 65 year old fossil (no offense to the elders here )
We have already made the classifieds a bit of a pain to use, enough so that i deal with emails daily about why people cant replay or cant pm or how their account is broken.
I try to reference this link always
http://www.canadiancaraudio.com/onli...assifieds.html
That has 1800 views. Not bad, I often feel I have had as many emails with the same question of how to use the ad system.
How do we know who is fake and how to stop them from attempting to scam?
If you have a good idea, lets use. Do a write up, lets post. I am all for that 100%.

There is a sold function, no delete. I dont anticipate any delete options in the near future, BUT, if there were to be it would be for subscribers. And at that, it would only be a soft delete and the data would still be stored historically.

Jalat said this site was a piece of and his ONLY reason for being here was to sell his gear. This was confirmed through email discussions directly with him. Jalat can go to craigslist. You don't get to in and on all over my house then setup a lemonade stand on my front lawn.

Thanks for your suggestions, they are 100% being thought out in my noggen right now. The staff will talk about it and in between real life and family I will get at what I can to try the forum better, give me some time though

there is probably no need for a full blown stats page but maybe just a banner generator of some sort that links back to cca.

I put my stickers in my window to adervertise also some of the Madawaska people now know about this site altho no one usuallys uses the internet here.

I would glady adervertise with a sticker in my windshield if I had the money to get it made. I would also advertise on any website that I own. I just dont own any. I dunno if I have missed it but have you guys added a facebook page thing? I am sure you could get more people that way.

(Yes I know that I am not doing it so I shouldnt say anything)
But it is just a suggestion.

There shouldnt need to be knowledgeable staff onhand for something like this really, there are more then enough knowledgable members here. I read in most forums(except french since I cant read it) and if I see something that I can contribute to I will, if I cant I keep it at a view. All it takes is 1 person sharing there knowledge to make someones day run alot smoother

The issue has been that some vendors don't like the idea that shops promote events and thus get free promos and they pay.
I've heard it time and time again.

Tony, you don't want to. Thats the thing. After you talk to me, then the guy doing sales, then Dukk, then me over the course of what, 750+ days you still cant decide if you want to spend what, $100?

Forums gone downhill? Dont worry about. Take a back seat, enjoy the slope we are on then. Don't worry about the vendorship. I really don't need the cash and I certainly don't want to take $100 from you (albeit a month) for something you think is failing.

I will say this. While you and others may just be lurkers, putting a bit of effort into a site you spend a ton of your time on 'reading', and one that you remotely feel is beneficial to your business, why not get more involved and make it better for all for you as a business and for the consumers that use the site???

I mean honestly, 05-20-2000 join date.270 posts... I think you have invested way too much into this community. Sad part is, a guy like Jalat has done more for this site and he got the boot.

Sometimes I wonder about my own decisions
