I've heard it time and time again.

Tony, you don't want to. Thats the thing. After you talk to me, then the guy doing sales, then Dukk, then me over the course of what, 750+ days you still cant decide if you want to spend what, $100?

Forums gone downhill? Dont worry about. Take a back seat, enjoy the slope we are on then. Don't worry about the vendorship. I really don't need the cash and I certainly don't want to take $100 from you (albeit a month) for something you think is failing.

I will say this. While you and others may just be lurkers, putting a bit of effort into a site you spend a ton of your time on 'reading', and one that you remotely feel is beneficial to your business, why not get more involved and make it better for all for you as a business and for the consumers that use the site???

I mean honestly, 05-20-2000 join date.270 posts... I think you have invested way too much into this community. Sad part is, a guy like Jalat has done more for this site and he got the boot.

Sometimes I wonder about my own decisions

Dude, I have to thank you for posting this reply - some good food for thought.

Over the years I have tried to contribute to this forum where and how I can - given my work previously and now it's been hit or miss for sure.. but the posts I have on here and think have been pretty much to try and help out - and that I am happy with. I think the fact that I have been on here since 2000, and still come back and contribute when and where I can is a good thing, and those that may benefit would tend to agree I think. I'm not here or on any forum to have the most # of posts.

As your owner of this site I'm guessing, I would have hoped/thought a post like mine from a potential vendor/advertiser would have prompted you to ask what you could do to secure a deal and what we may be able to do to work together to improve both our businesses. With an advertising budget of over $5k-$6k a month - a $100 bucks here or there is not the be all end all, but as any good business owner - you want to invest in something that will have payback. No matter if it's $10 or $10,000. For the record, no it's not been 750+ days.. initial contact was made in Nov/Dec of 2009 regarding advertising for **FAIL!**.

If it was a $100 a month I'd probably have done it - only because I could stop when and if we decided to. Paying up front for months of something I'm not 100% sold on it not a wise decision in my books.

Regardless - I'll speak with my wallet for now, but still try and spend the time I can here and help out where I can.

Regardless of the content of the 271 posts you have, im taking that out of the equation, 271 posts in 10 years is not what I would call a contributing member.
What that means is, if you logged off tomorrow and never ever came back, I do not believe that there would have been anyone on this site that would have said "where did Tony go?"
If I disabled your account, I would likely only get a PM from Paul asking why I did that. Take another one of the active members, heck, I nuked some kids account the other day and 2 members have asked about it, but then again, he was active.

I am not saying you need to be a post to be considered an active contributing member. What I am saying is that for a guy who has 271 posts in 10 years you don't have a right to dog on the forum. If you claim you have been here everyday and watched it slide, then my response is that if you were a contributing member why not try and steer the site in a better direction?

You are able to talk to Dukk about advertising, did you mention the site was sucking then too?

Honestly Tony. Perhaps for the first few emails / pms with you there was a thought you were going to be a vendor. Heck, when Dukk came to bat for you and was asking to hook you up I thought "finally this guy is going to pull the trigger". You didnt and likely never ever would have (I will touch on tha reasoning in a moment).

The point is once you said the site was on a slide and that's why you were unsure if you would become a vendor I felt it was my duty to ensure that you wouldn't become one. I like having business relationships with the shops that are on here. Sometimes I do let pride get in the way of profit, but that's ok and works for me because again, I don't 'need' $100 a month and I certainly wouldn't let a guy who thinks the site is a fail just become a not involved site sponsors of the community. Irony is, there are more than a few vendors that seem to think it works for them. Heck, there is always an ongoing battle with people who DONT want to pay and do business here (see why Murilo and RW are banned)

Wrong answer. $1000 / year out of a $72,000 advertising budget is jack . Ive spent that much sponsoring events for charity (w. NO TAX RECEIPT), taking staff to dinner, running my own ad campaigns etc. $1000 a year to advertise in your exact niche is NOTHING. Put your ad in the local booster and its $450 for 1 run.
From one business owner to the next, if you opted out of spending $1000 on direct demographic advertising because you were unsure of the results though you yourself have kept coming back for 10 years, only to read, then that's a seriously foolish mistake.....And so, I just don't believe you have a 72k a year advertising budget, but that's besides the point.

You haven't earned the right to plug your business. So don't.

$100 monthly, $1000 / year which was what, $83 a month.
I can understand your need to watch the big ad campaigns when you have a 72k a year advertising budget. I mean really, this is only Canadian Car Audio.

Tony, you don't get to quit after you're fired. I fixed your indecision in the earlier post, I don't want your business. Enjoy the site, be active. Just do not try and peddle your shop or its gear here (there's always ebay or craigslist)

On one hand you have Tony who thinks the sites poopy so he's unsure if he will crack that 72k a year budget for some CCA love

or....

Jalat, who also thinks the sites poopy, only wants to peddle his gear and sell boxes on the side without becoming a vendor.

Damn....Yuli, got any other ideas?
