The vehicle does not need to be a particular brand such as Fisher Price Power wheels. It can be any self-powered electric vehicle intended for small children. No pedal-cars, go-carts, golf carts, etc.
The vehicle must be completely enclosed. Any removable panels must remain shut during the run. No vents to the outside. (With the exception of Stock Class)
The height of the vehicle can be no more than the length of the hood. This measurement should be taken from the front of the hood to the rear of the hood, closest to the windshield. Example: If the hood is "X" amount of inches then the top of the roof can be no more than an average of "X" inches from the top of the body.
The vehicle must have a windshield made of some type of transparent material. The windshield should be about the same width as the hood and at least 8 inches tall. There should be more glass than wood, metal, etc.
The wall housing the sub(s) and the subs themselves can be no closer than an average of 10 inches to the windshield. Example: 10" bottom + 7" top=17 divided by 2=8.5"...NOT LEGAL These distance requirements will also apply to ports.
Battery chargers or power supplies may not be used during judging.
Only the head unit and other signal source and processors (equalizers, line drivers, etc.) may be mounted off of the vehicle or in a podium.
Amps, speakers, batteries, and other components must be mounted on the vehicle. Amplifiers may be mounted to the outside of the vehicle, on the top, on the sides, etc. All subwoofers must be completely enclosed. (other than stock class) The battery for the system must be mounted under the hood, between the two front wheels.
You are allowed to lower or lift a vehicle but you cannot create more area to house equipment. You must also utilize the factory mounting for the wheels and the motors. You must use the factory motors that came with the vehicle you use.
The vehicle must drive into and out of the lanes under it's own power. There will be a mark about 40 feet out and the vehicle must drive from that point into the lane, then back to that point.
There must be a panel that is removable to allow the microphone to enter the cab of the vehicle. The reading will then be taken anywhere in the vehicle between the windshield and the front of he box. The USACI globe must be on the microphones at all times.
The most important rule of all... HAVE FUN...
Classes
Ok now that we have all the rules sorted out onto the breakdown in classes.
Beginner (Consumer) This class is for first time competitors. You can only compete in this class for one season. If you work at or own a shop you must go to the Pro class.
MSB1... One 12" or smaller woofer. One amplifier, no power limit. One battery. MSB2... One 15" or larger woofer. One amplifier, no power limit. One battery.
Advanced (PRO) This class is for competitors that have competed in beginner class for 1 year, competitors who own or work at a shop, or simply if they choose too.
In the pro class you are allowed a second battery. You can use this to run the head unit, neon, television, basically anything but the amplifiers. You can also use this to power the motors. You do not have to put the second battery under the hood with the main battery.
MSA1... One 12" or smaller speaker, two amplifiers, no power limit. MSA2... One 15" or larger, two amplifiers, no power limit. MSA3... Any two or more woofers, any size. Two amplifiers, no power limit.
EXTREME MSX … The only rule in the extreme division is that the microphone globe must be used and the reading must be taken within the vehicle. Other than that you can do what you want. Build it 6 feet tall. Make a trailer to hold the equipment. Just go crazy and have fun. No limits on equipment.
STOCK MSS… One sub 12 inches or less. Any enclosure must be behind the passenger seats and may not protrude beyond the body or above the factory seat backs. Sound quality speakers, no more than two (6 inches or smaller), may be placed forward of the seats. They must be mounted in factory door panels without enclosure.
The microphone will be placed forward of the seats and rear of the factory windshield in the floorboard of the vehicle. The USACI globe will be used at all times.
One battery may be used and must be mounted under the hood.
The competitor must be no more than 8 years old and must be able to sit in and drive the vehicle into the judging lane. The co pilot may give advice but the competitor must run the sound system during judging.
ALL MINI SPL CLASSES MUST USE COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE EQUIPMENT

this is what I think should be the rules:

must drive into and out of the lanes under it's own power
must only have 1 battery
must have windshield to mount a mic at least 4" x 6"
limited to 2000w total at any impeadance
total of 3-8", 2-10", or 1-12" sub
must still resemble a vehicle
anything else goes

should be rookie/amateur/pro classes to keep things more fair.

they were only suggestions......personally, I think that if you take the time to build one, it should be allowed to compete...limiting the size of woofer IMO, would just make for a closer race. without it, the class could end up like db drag with quiet new guys getting beat out by really loud seasoned guys.
