so we will judge one guys ears against the next, that truly is stupid, i got 9 cars and it wasnt supposed to have any sq at all that was just local cars, sanctioning means rules and rules for sq is imo truly stupid. the chosen judge will obviously have tons of experience, and will know what to listen for, image, stage etc. and doesnt need rules to tell him. again the show is for fun, drink some beer, watch hotties walk around wearing next to nothing, maybe win some cash or other cool prizes, have your car judged by a machine or by an experience judge, rules tend to compicate things, the recommendations i asked for was for judges, the other one was strictly for george. a true competitor will travel just to see if his car is better than everyone elses, wouldnt he

I am not saying that I am not coming to the show, you just asked for opinions on the format and I gave it. And so you are aware, I am a seasoned IASCA competitor and judge. I don't mean to offend you or your show, just trying to offer some helpfull advice as to what I have seen work in the past.
It sounds like your focusing more on the party and socializing aspect instead of the competion, which is your own preference. Maybe I'll toss the car in to see how it fairs with your format.

I agree that the show should at least have some sort of rule set. Whether geared towards the newbie or seasoned competitor. For the newbie's just saying "You lost because it didn't sound good, does nothing for him, he doesn't know what caused him to lose" and not many vets are going to go to an unsanctioned show, especially if there are no set rules and it's open more to personal bias.

whos personal bias, the judge will have plenty of opportunity to talk to the competitors, if the vets dont come thats sad, competeing just for points is cool but, id rather have cash and prizes, there are going to be rules, best image, stage, tonality etc are those judging criteria not rules, if i were to implemnet rules what would i do, seriously now, all arguing aside, what would ya'll like to see

How about just using USACi SQ rules, they are posted on the internet for all to see for free. I mean if you are going to give out cash prizes it is nice to ensure no one cheats to get it.
Also without rules anyone can blame the judges for picking their "friend" or whatever and having set rules and guidelines will elimanate 90% of that right away. Otherwise just have people show up and show off their systems with no judging at all, or do it competitors choice.

You have to have a certain amount of rules for SQ. You need a score sheet and safety sheet, otherwise your just guessing. It's not like you can score SQ on a 1 to 10 scale. I may listen to one car and say it was tonally accurate but there was no depth, the sound was right in my face and the sound wasn't linear at all. The next guy scores the exact opposite, Who wins???? like i said tim turbull is a very experienced person when it comes to what is and isnt good sound in vehicles. there will be notes taken on each individual vehicle, when judging a car 1-10 what do you use for a reference, the 1st car,2nd car, what, in doing it by judging every car individally and taking notes on each car it allows you the flexibilty to change your reference vehicle, aka best sounding to that point, in a scoring type method you cant change you reference score, aka best score so far. i think its safe to say that all the competitors will have basic saftey in mind, eg. proper fusing, firewall gromets, etc, and besides we all have to assume that the judge will be unbiased in every sq event dont we, and how would rules change how a judge could be biased or unbiased
