Trophies or Certificates & cash
I am still confused on prizes....I don't have as many trophies in the room as most of the guys I know, although, when people come in the shop and see a few trophies they always ask about them...When I show them our 2nd place at western finals, I am most proud of that, and it doesn't matter the size of the trophy (it is a great acheivment being the 2nd year in the business)....So I like all the ideas, and I like certificates with date times, and scores because it can be used as a great conversation tool for bragging rights...it is now on paper...How many times do we hear "Yeah man, I was at this sound off and hit a 150 with two tens and my 600watt amp"... I think having something on paper validates the competitors claim. I like hearing "I was at this sound-off and I only hit 138 with my system at 40hz, I got this certificate to prove it, and I am going to try to beat that next time"
just more ideas.... Oh the cost.... big trophies cost big money, and $150.00 for 1st place X 10 catagories = $1500.00 - not bad if we can get the commitment from the competitors, but need 30 competitors just to break even...on first prize,
Do we think that we could get people to pay that spectate $5-10 dollars / person...better than watching the Vancouver Canucks and cheaper....
