Wayne sounds like he needs to hire some good people to help him. Scattered people usually have great idea's,but drop the ball too much so most tend to walk away.

thats just it , hes running a global company pretty much by himself so he doesnt have time for the little things that help the company grow , he needs to hire staff such as db drag canada , db drag brazil , db drag etc so everything runs up to speed for instance the world finals , we found out a couple months if that about were the locations were going to be , we were under the impression there was going to be a closer final ( las angeles) so this cost the locations alot of smaller attendance , if he could posibly have staff that traveled around to differnt parts of the world like moe does for iasca this would regain the company some gain . back in the day when there was pts championship jackets and prizes handed out that gave competitors some incentive to actually travel around and gain pts were as now theres no prize , I know dons trying to bring back this to his shows hes giving out a king of bass trophy for a pts championship and gave out some really nice jackets this year if db drag would do this it would help regain alot of competiors back into db drag

I think having something on paper validates the competitors claim. I like hearing "I was at this sound-off and I only hit 138 with my system at 40hz, I got this certificate to prove it, and I am going to try to beat that next time"
I am expecting 40-50 competitors. At $20.00 each, that's $800-$1000. Take out the insurance rider ($50.00), sanctioning fee & paperwork ($75), DJ equipment($100), Wayne Harris's Term Lab upgrade fee ($200), SQ judge ($250) (keeps it fair for the subjectivity issue) T-shirts to give away ($500.00), subwoofers to blow up for the entertainment value ($300) & miscellaneous crap ($50), it comes out to $1525 without trophies. If I could get a KILLER deal on trophies ($425), I would go for it. It brings me up to the $2K that I was thinking of spending on each of my shows. If not, then

I see what you're saying about bragging rights & proof in the pudding, but with everybody's hand out, it's tough to provide excellent trophies for competitors.

not to mention the cost of living itself has gone up. I know for myself, I wouldn't mind paying $40 entry for a show like yours keith. we've payed more for less of a show on more than one occasion....

I think the cash and certificates is an awesome idea. I went to a show last year in cranbrook and finished second place, after I had spent all day there and they were giving out trophys i get told they dont have trophies for the second place finishers. So honestly i was pi$$Ed as i spent the money driving there etc to get nothing in return, basically i got 2 runs on a termlab to see what i was hitting for $40. seems pretty lame to me but what can ya do right.

I know that I joked about charging the spectators, but hmmmmm. I don't know how we do this, but audience participation, and driving the excitment about what we do...Maybe a collection of guys that have gone over the top with their sound systems, like a travelling carnival or like monster trucks....OK I need to get my head out of the clouds, but like kieth said about the costs, and in order to be competitive these days we are giving things away, making peanuts on service, and people generally don't seem to appriciate what we do....$1000 dollars worth of advertising needs to bring the shop about 4-5000 dollars worth of business just to break even, not to mention the costs of leasing, electricity, heat, labour...it is getting tough, and this is why the trophies are getting smaller, or they are taking away 2nd place trophies....
