2010 Dodge Ram 1500 Factory Alarm

Hi, new to this site

Question 1
I have a 2010 Ram 1500 and would like to be able to change the horn chirp when I lock the truck with the factory FOB. (I am looking for a quiet beep like the lexus and toyotas use)

After visiting 2 highly rated install shops i have been told that it is not possible without installing an aftermarket alarm.

I have been thinking about this and wonder if installing a capacitor before the horn would reroute the signal to an aftermarket siren, yet still alow the use of the horn with a slight delay. My thinking on this is the signal would travel through the wires and to the siren, the capacitor would absorb the voltage and not activate the horn.

Question 2

I have a Compustar 2 way (about 3 years old) that I pulled out of my old truck. I live in North Vancouver and a respected install shop (very close by) said it would be very difficult or impossible to install. Today I visited another shop ( I assume very well respected and knowledgable due to the owners many posts on this site ) and was told that it would be no problem. Any thoughts or suggestions from any of u installers would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Foctory horn volume, nothing you can do.
Compustar alarm, no issue at all.
You may need to buy a module to integrate into the CAN-BUS system.

Thanks for the quick reply. This is not the answer I was hoping for but rather expecting .

Will all my functions like auto climate control and heated/cooled seats activation when remote starting be retained when the compustar is installed?

Thanks

Depending on the module used, you should be fine.
Will have a lot to do with the installer.
Idatalink or Fortin should have a solution for you.

being that its a 1500 there should be no issues. everything will work fine with both the fortin evo chr wich is a very nice peice to put in as well as the i data ads al ca.

with an older unit if its been installed before makeing sure it all works and all the parts are there is important.

the reason that the lexus sounds the way it does is that the horn is not used for the alarm its a sepperate pezo siren. if getting an aftermarket system put in you could trigger any thoing you wanted as a lock conf.

the factory horn will still honk as far as i know with both moduals tho.
