Car Audio Only
#1
I have been coming to this forum on a regular basis for the past three years or so. I have avoided all the bitching that has gone on about mods doing this and that. I dont join flame wars but I have to ask what is up with this car audio only rule in the for sale section. We have maybe 5 of 10 posts in this section that are not car audio and most of those are computer relater (The methode we use to get together about car audio), what is the big deal?
I know you are trying to crack done on the FS section but this just does not make sense.
And if the only reason you have is that this is a car audio website why are the none car audio want to buy ads not removed.

because I am constantly getting people sending me topic alerts that the stuff for sale isn't car or audio related. seriously, this isn't ebay. I don't want 10 emails a week about this.
It got to the point where someone even put a washer and dryer for sale in there. So the line has been drawn.

Why is the line only drawn in the for sale section. So basicaly if you want your own way find a small group of do gooders that want the same thing and pester the mods with emails?
If you have not noticed the board gets slow in the winter and the one part that keeps alot of people coming is the non car audio section.

hmm.. i think the mods just have to use there own descretions on this.. i'd say home audio would be fine, and computers as well.. no big deal. it's when ppl do list dumb things it has to be controlled. and hwy email the mods about it?!?!? who cares!!! i'm sure they look on the for sale section from time to time? it's not exactly a "fast" scrolling section of the forum

The thing of it is, when we start to let some things go (lets just say computers for example), then you have people thinking that ANYTHING remotley related to computers is fine (example motherboards, drives, burners). The reason we try to stay as a car audio only fs section is that if you let some things go at one persons discretion, another person may interpret it as its ok for something totally different.
As CCA grows, so does the amount of crap that comes onto it from members who don't really contribute. They just come on, post what they have for sale, and that is their only contribution to the board. If we don't keep things to a fine line, then things get out of control in no time. Take a look what happened about a year ago when we decided we weren't going to mod anything at all. We got so many complaints that the board was turing to ****.
As far as the wanted section, sure we can take a stronger stance on it to, but how long will it take until someone complains that we are to strict there too? The wanted section for the most part is pretty dead. Thats the reason it doesn't get alot of attention.

absolutely. I come on here to learn and share my woes about the wonderful world car stereo.
I go to the for sale section to see what's being offered. It bugs me a bit when I see other stuff on there for sale, but it's not that bad, I suppose.
One only needs to visit revscene.com to understand what mayhem is all about. On that board. You have to "take to top" because that's the way it is. It's a bit of a jungle mentality, but a board is only as good as the users that frequent it. The moderators there try their best.
On this board, all I have to do is a "search" for the product I am looking for. Most people are careful in their description of the product they are trying to sell and most importantly, the title.
When I first entered this board, I was a bit of a donkey. When you get to know the other people on this board, you realize quickly that there is no need to impress or kiss *** or whatever. There are people on this board that rub me the wrong way, too. Those who make stupid racist comments without knowing they did it, for example. But, the Internet is a large community of users and you get everything from mild to wild.
I really like this board........ it could be that people actually put their real names on here. I'm not that confident yet, but that one thing alone sets the tone of this board. I know Tim as Tim......... just got to know him in person. It makes a difference. I plan to attend some sanctioned events this year and I will try to meet as many of you as I can. Defro, Westec, Whacker, Dukk, Dave MacKinnon, etc.
done for now.................

And as far as what the mods decided to do a year ago it proved nothing. Yes a board needs to be moderated. Yes an unmoderated board will go to hell. IMO That was the single most childish thing I have ever seen on a forum. If certain moderators did not like the feedback they were getting from doing there job they should have step down and became an average forum member again. Not shrugged the responsibility. I left the board during that time period and I am sure others did as well.
I have moderated on a few different forums befor so I know the tyoes of emails that you were getting.

One thing that still hasn't changed is people posting FS topics, and not lncluding a friggin price, even tho it states that it is required in the rules. I find that more annoying that the non-caraudio FS posts, why? Because if I'm interested in the item I jsut don't open it
