</font>
The mods define what is "retarded". That is what they are here for. I have realized that without them, this forum would turn into caf's WOT. They have to use their best judgement to do their job. Believe me, I've tried but don't even think of trying to fight it. There are only 2 options, put up or get out. I for one choose to put up. </font>
You make it sound like we are the evil doers who dumped wrath over the world. Come on now. **** man...that **** pisses me off.

The thing of it is you are a member of a internet buliten board. Just because you frequent the board does that mean you can change what you see fit? Come on now. I used to love this board and all the members who CHOOSE to visit it. But recently, I have really been let down with the bitterness and agnst towards CCA. Take a moment and step away from your computer. There is more to life out there than the internet.
</font>
I guess it came out a little different than I meant. What I mean is that someone has to set the rules, and rules can't satisfy everyone's wants or needs. There also has to be somoeone to enforce and interpret these rules. I was trying to compliment the mods for doing a bang up job.

Just an FYI.. I go out of my way to read every single FS ad posted. If the person doesn't post a price I send them a message and ask them to fix it.

I then give them a day or two (not everyone reads the boards daily) .. THEN I'll get rid of it.

So far most users have been very good about putting up a price after being asked, even the noobs.

I just don't think it's fair to automatically delete any topic that doesn't have a price.

</font>
I don't think that person was making fun of mentally handicapped people. Retarded, if anything, is used for describing those who are slow learners.

That is why people are referred to as mentally handicapped. You rarely hear someone who says, "that's mentally handicapped!"

What's really insulting is when people do the thumping of the chest with their forearm/wrist, mimicking the actions of a handicapped person. The "Spazz". THAT, is offensive. As a kid I was guilty of doing it, but when I saw that it was making fun or light of those people who suffer from that type of condition, I stopped doing it.

Nobody on this board is intentionally being nasty. Anyway.........

Retarded has taken on a new meaning - just like the word gay, It used to be such a nice word.

Toy Soldier, he obviously wasn't making fun of someone with a handicap. Everyone uses the word retarded everyday and that does not mean we're referring to someone who is mentally handicapped. It's a slang word and frequently used for things totally unrelated to someone being handicapped. If you don't know that by now, Im not even gonna go there.

Like mugen1 said "Retarded has taken on a new meaning - just like the word gay" I could say hey thats gay doesn't mean im saying that someones homosexual. And Johnny certainly wouldn't be one to go out there and make fun of people with handicap's. Cool off a bit on that one.

As for this thread, the mods are doing their job without them this board would be like all the other boards that have gone to crap. Should be greatful we have a board as well run as this one, and consider it a priviledge to post as they take time out of their day to ensure the proper running of this successful board.

That is a terrible analogy.

As mugen1 said. The English language is evolutionary. The word "gay" at one time meant that you were happy. The word "***" in a lot of places means cigarette. But we all know that those 2 words have come to mean something else.

The word "retarded" is used to define people that are mentally handicapped. Unfortunately it it's now also used to mean that something is dumb or not quite right.

You may disagree with it, and you may be offended by it. That's unfortunate but it's a fact of life. Times they are a changin'. You either learn to accept it or spend the rest of your life being pissed about it.

btw.. with your analogy of racial slurs you may have also forgotten that the "n" word to describe black people is now very commonly used ammongst them to describe someone who is their friend.. the word has EVOLVED for them as well
