05 Jaguar sub out issue
A customer brought in a PPI 2100 amp with a dvc4 MTX 7500 series 10" in a ported box. He wanted the box to fit into a certain area that was more pleasing to his eyes. He had already wired it up himself in a sort of way that it worked.
We made him a sealed box and fixed up his wiring. He paid and left another happy customer. 10 minutes later he comes back in saying that his sub turned off. We checked everything out. NFF. We sold him a new amp that would take a 2 ohm mono load, installed it...happy customer...
I get a call the next day. Sub cut out after leaving the shop. We changed the sub. Customer goes away happy.. for 15 minutes, then returns saying that it cut out again. We trade out his LOC, let it run hard in the shop for 20 minutes. No problem. Customer leaves feeling drained, as are we. 15 minutes later, sub cuts out.
WTF??!!!! Is it something in the deck?

The amp is fine when it's here. His previous sub kicked the amp into protect when it was here, so we upgraded him to a DD 1512 d4 on an Alpine MRPM650. It seemed like a match made in heaven, but now he says that it just cuts out for no reason. The amp light is still blue, it's not hot, but the sub isn't moving. He can turn it off for a while, then it's fine again.

Very poor electrical ability. What kind of vehicle? 05 Jaguar? Maybe it's a factory thing. Maybe Jaguar thinks their stock crap is better and installed something to screw everything else up. You switched the sub and amp and still have the problem - why don't you try swapping the deck, and use the amp/sub that was cutting out? Logical deduction. I'll bet you that it's the wire that goes from the deck to the amp, it's probably moving in and out when he goes on/off gas, look at the subwoofer-out on the deck. Your other wires might even be touching, making the amp go into protect. Make sure all wires coming out of the deck are taped up etc. Maybe he thought his sub cut out because you went from ported to sealed, and he had his music blasting, thinking it was the 6.5's making some bass and not the sub. How smart is this guy? You already said he wired up his sub wrong. Did that screw up his amp, and deck?
