8k SD amp clipping
I recently bought a 8k SD amp, and every time i turn it up the clip light comes on steady yellow almost instantly, is this bad, what would cause this, or is this amp just messed up from the get go, any comments would help

thats weird, my 3k doesn't do it. I think the first manual I read in English was for the 8k and it said that minor clipping was acceptable. my guess is you've tried to turn everything down already. do all three lights come on or just the power and clipping?
if you haven't turned everything off try that andrun the deck with everything zero'd out and then slowly tweak it. these amps are really sensitive from what I've seen. if not then try pm'ing Murilo on here, maybe he can help you out more

Get a 3.5mm (headphone jack) -> RCA and plug your mp3 player into the amp. Still have the clipped light?
Do you have any whining(like from the alternator) coming out of your speakers? I had an amp that also had a 'clipped' light and it was always on because that particular car had bad alternator whine coming out of the speakers (alt was dying). Moved to a different car and the light went off.

Njord wouldnt it have been cheaper to get a new alternator instead of car? lol jk.
This happend to my friends JBL amp. The light was yellow and not playing and the book didnt say anything about a yellow light. Turned out to be a bad ground.

I would also check the ground. Alternator whine can be caused by bad grounds. Either the deck or the amp. If you use an MP3 player like I suggest it would help you narrow down the problem (deck or amp)
