Amp Problems

Ok ill start by saying im ontario and its cold, i dunno if this could have anything to do with my problem, anyways my amp (MTX XD300) which is 300 watts rms i had it running 2, 300rms 10 inch mtx subs, anyways i was running it on a 20hm load, the amp is 2ohm stable btw, anyways last week the red light turned green and i couldnt get any audio to come from the amp , anyways i tried another amp and got it to work in my car so i figured i fried my amp or did something to it, anyways so i went and bought the same amp again yesterday, and hooked everything up again and it worked like acharm anyways i havnt even ahd it hooked up for 8 hours and the green led light came on again on the new amp , and now im not getting sound , i hav no clue what it could be b/c before my amp was working perfect, what could have possibly caused this? and what could the problem be, im gettin stressed here b/c now im thinking that i might hav wasted money on another amp when the old one is still good or i might have messed up 2 amps in a row, i need some help i greatly appreciate it

you could of just put the amp into protect mode. Which comes off when you turn the amp down or turn it off then back on. You probably have a bad ground spot. Or you set the gain to high and blew your amp. My amp goes into protect when I push it to hard. Then I turn it down and it slowly comes back on. And is the same again.

Check your subs with a OHM meter make sure you did not fry one of the coils, which would put the amp into protect. Also some protection circuits on amps become more sensitive when the temp is cold, and less sensitive when its warm.
Example we tried to burp a AB 500.1 at .5ohm last week when it was FREEZING and it went into protect, the SAME amp will burp at that load no problem in warmer temps.

you could use a multimeter for your amp as well. I did that to my amp. I thought it was blown but the head unit just messed up.

You should always give your amp a few minutes to warm up before pounding it. Things going from cold to warm very fast doesn't really help to much either. Sounds like you have a bad ground, just take it apart, and redo it to make sure you have a proper ground.
