Amplifier help

Will a amplifier make my radio run cooler or hotter? Because someone told me that it'll make it run hotter but I don't see how..

If it does anything for the radio, it will run cooler.

**EDIT

providing it's an aftermarket unit using the RCA preouts.

unless there is a way to defeat the internal amp then its still running the amplifier. as yo increase the volume it will increase the power to the internal amp as well, even if it isnt used.

It will run cooler however, if you get a decently powered amp, allowing you to keep the stereo volume lower to get as much or more noise. I dont see a scenario where it will run warmer.

why is heat an issue with your stereo?
