Asian market Kenwood DDX919WS
Hello, longtime car audio nerd looking for some oddball help.
I recently got a Toyota 86 (Subaru BRZ twin) with a 200mm radio mounting point. I got a US double din radio that looked awful and on the 86 forum found that in Australia and Asia Kenwood sells 200mm units. It took some doing ('mericans apparently have scammed vendors over there) but finally found someone willing to sell me a radio. Then I found the connector for XM is not the same as ours and indeed is a 10+ year old external nav port. I got the CD/MiniDisk adaptor that does plug in and the Sirius radio that plugs into that and the radio thinks it has a NAV connected with no antenna.
My question is has anyone gotten a US firmware onto an outside the US unit to get Sirius/XM on their radio?
I am able to listen using carplay through the XM app but that requires network connectivity and frequently there is no service where satellite radio will have signal.
Thanks!

I sent a message to JVC/Kenwood and got a call today claiming the hardware is different. I seriously doubt the IO is different especially seeing as the radio sees it has a device connected it just does not have the software to interact with it.
