Blowing Fuses

I have a problem and hope somebody can help.
I have a Kicker zx300.1 amp hooked up to a Kicker 10" sub. Everything was fine for almost 2 years. One morning I start my truck and no sub. I check the fuses and both 20A are blown. When I replace them they immediately blow again, key and deck are off. I go to a local shop and they tell me my amp is blown and try to sell me a new amp. Instead I buy a new one through amazon.com. When it arrives I try to hook it up. Ground first and then as soon as the power touches the amp it blows its 40A fuse.
Any ideas on what to check would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

high power popping fuses when simply hooking up power... (I hope you were not trying to power up the amp and make music at the same time)... definitely a wiring issue from your description. You have to check every POWER wire and every SPEAKER wire and verify tight clean connections without corrosion or frayed wires.

Open up the amp as a last resort and check for loose wires

get you a volt meter, and try it again. Take the ground wire, and clean it.

If memory serves me correct someone on here had amp fuses blowing cause the heat sink of the amplifier was touching something metal in the car.

Dont you put the ground cable on after you install the positive power cable lol?

take off, neg first. put on, positive first. i think

"Ground first and then as soon as the power touches the amp it blows its 40A fuse."
