can someone explain this rating please?
Hello all,
My first post here. I looked for an intro section but didn't find one. I'm pretty green when it comes to car stereo stuff so I'm hoping someone can help me.
I have an old (OK antique then!
) Phoenix Gold QX 4075 amp. Now when I got it years ago, when I was sooooooooo smart I didn't need anybody's help, I put it in my RX7 and powered two 6x9s and two 6.5s off of it. Seemed to work ok. Now this amp has been sitting on my shelf for a few years and I want to throw it into a Sidekick for some better tunes than what the factory radio is capable of. I could have just connected it similar to how I had it back in the day but when I looked up the specs to see what speakers I should/could power with it, the rating kinda threw me for a loop. What the hell is 1W x 30 ??? I figured it was a typo and it's really 30W x 1 but I looked up several sources and they all list the same spec.
As you can see from the pics, this amp is a four channel with separate inputs and seperate bridgeable outputs.
Can anybody tell me what this amp's rating is and what would be the ideal speakers to run off of it? Please and thank you.
Sean

A few Google hits I got:
Googled
Googled
Googled (last one at the bottom)
So does 1W x 30 or 1W x 50 mean something or is it some sort of typo? I see this for many different amps, not just Phoenix Gold.
