Question Cod my amp cause distortion

I have 2 MA 12's being pushe by a 1600 watt amp! For some reason my subs have a distortion in them when they hit! My amp power light also fades out! What could cause this? I have checked my wiring for the most part!

Have you measured for voltage drops?

What kind of car?
What model amp?

what model number is the amp?
what gauge wiring are you using?

For whatever reason, you have an obvious lack of power at the amplifier.
When you say distortion, are you by any chance hearing mechanical noise from the subwoofers? Hissing in the system?

Where are you crossovers and sensitivity/gain set at on the amp?

Are you utilizing a subsonic filter?

Gain and crossover were set at 50% I never touched them when I bought the system three years ago! I recently just turned them down to protect my subs
