what would cause a spide rto rip???

mu friend has a re hc 15 being pushed by a tantrum 1200.1 and we noticed yesterday that the spider was ripped near to pole.Anyone know why did it rip? can it be fixed? who can fix it?.thanks for all help, my friend is pissed because he bought the speaker used and not sure if re will fix it or not.

Over-excursion or possibly a manufacturing defect are about the only things that can rip a spider. Playing it below tuning or using too much power would be obvious culprits.

thanks guys, so it needs a recone? how much does a recone cost for that sub and how can i get ahold of db don?
