The 6 channel ones are actually only a 3 way crossover (marketing departments dictate how they are marketed and 6 sounds better than 3). While it's true that it would take care of your whole system - subs and all - it isn't necessary and would only add expense. Your sub is working fine and doesn't need to be involved in this upgrade. My advice is to buy a 2 way crossover like the Audio Control 2XS, add it to your front setup (with another amp) and be done with it.

Yes they do which is nice because they can be retuned if you upgrade your speakers later.

I have an old Phoenix Gold MX2 which would be perfect for what you need. Of course it's not for sale lol. If you could find one it would be better than the Audio Control units. They use plug-in resistor modules for tuning while the PG MX2 uses pots (dials) which can be tuned on the fly. If you cruise Ebay for a while you may find an old MX2. Save a search and be notified if one comes up for sale.

I have always had excellent results with the Coustic XM3 (XM4) and XM5 (XM6) crossovers.

Wow, I just looked up the XM5e and it's the only one I've seen in a long time with a true bandpass, is tuned with a pot, has selectable slope, AND has a frequency multiplier (tweeter duty). Most of the new crossovers I see are really only a few high pass filters with a single low pass filter for the sub. Glorified bass blockers. The exception being the DX28 and of course the digital units but now that's getting a bit pricey.

I remember I looked forever until I found my M/A Audio eq/xover with a true bandpass section (thanks SirSleepsalot). Even then I had to hack it up to make it do what I wanted.
