is it true that if you have a battery in the trunk that it has to be vented? even if it a dry cell type?

and if you run 2 batteries can they be of different types, like having a odyssey and a optima in parallel?

 

1) Venting. Reality says no. IASCA and USACi say yes.

2) Not ideal but people do it.

Optima batteries actually pop their seals in cold weather or with over charging. They should be vented, its safety! Cheers...

 

in my bmw the battery was under the seat and they had a hose to the battery to a hole in the floor
so make a box drill a hole use a hose into the floor cap off the box

If he baery isn't a sealed design, like the optima, then you better vent the thing, or you'll probably die from the fumes...

The safest bet is to vent them. The Smart car I was working on the other day however, had a standard lead acid battery factory installed not only in the passenger compartment, but about a foot from the factory ashtray...
