G35 owners or people with experience look here plz!

I own a 2003 G35 sedan and I was thinking about putting in an aftermarket sound system. Now I have heard that the G35's with the Bose sound system is difficult to put in an aftermarket head unit. I heard that the resistance of the speakers are different compared to most speakers and the Bose head unit is suited for those speakers. Is this true? Will I need to change my speakers along with the head unit to get good sound? Or will it even work at at all? If there's anyone out there that has done a G35 please let me know. Thanks!

Not to sure whether the head unit is hard to replace. If your going to replace the head unit, you might as well replace all the speakers as well. Plus theres a lot better for not that much than those bose speakers (I have heard the bose systems, not bad for a stock stereo).

The problem lies in that the Bozo system has amplifiers and lots of built in eq both in the factory deck and the amps.

I tell people flat that if they want to replace part of it, they have to replace it all. Yes there are adaptors to mix aftermarket with the factory stuff but it always sounds like the compromise it is.

yes like Dukk said... its never as good as it could be unless everything is changed...
we did one at the shop I work at (Car Audio Haven in Brampton) a few months ago... changed the deck and used the factory shiBOSEt amp and speakers and just added an aftermarket sub and sub amp(disconnected the factory sub)... it worked pretty good...
but if you want to upgrade the factory speakers you need to replace the amp as the impedance of the speakers is 1 or 2 ohm if I remember correctly and has individual channels for the mid and tweets that are crossed over inside the the factory amplifier... its a fairly large job
