Going to do big 3.. Questions about multiple battery setup
Hey there guys.
I was just wondering how my system will be all wired up when it's said and done.
I need to know the best way to connect two batteries (one under the hood and the other in the trunk or rear tire well.)
After I do the big 3, will I be connecting my amps grounds to the negative terminal on the battery? Or do I connect the ground of my amps to my cars chassis?
My setup will be:
Two batteries
Two US Amps Merlin MD2D's 1500w rms each for the subs
One Alpine MRP600 amp for the mids and highs
Im just thinking what the best way to wire it all up would be?
Would I run 0 gauge from the front battery to the back and run everything from the battery that is in the rear? Or should I run some from the front battery and some from the rear? Where should I ground all my gear?
I was thinking of getting some of these
http://cgi.ebay.ca/POSITIVE-BATTERY-TERMINAL-DUAL-0-GAUGE-4-8-Ga-OUTPUT-/300452133668?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item45f457 bb24
so the batteries have multiple connects. Since they have 0 gauge I can use that for the sub amps and the 4 gauge for my alpine amp.
Just planning this out, please help

Since you gonna run everything in 0ga, its really doesnt matter where you ground it but it must be a clean and good bond ground. Im running 5 batts in my spare tire compartment, also did the big 3, and have an 300a HO alt. All ground and positive are connect on a 1/2" thick copper bussbar with studs that I made. Works fine for me!

hmm sounds like that wouldn't be too hard to do.. Might have to pickup a dremel to make some good grounds on my frame or chassis. I always wanted one anyways lol.
1coolrt, where did you get your 300a HO alt from? I am going to need one custom made for a 1991-1992 toyota aristo I plan on buying when I finally get my N lol. It's finally time to get a nice ride.

i have my second battery ran in parellel. i grounded the second bat to the frame. ran a 4g wire from the positive lead on my stock battery. havent replaced my alternator yet but its in the works. paralell will keep you at at 12v compatible system. if your amps can run at 18v for more power u can run them in series and get a regulator to drop there line and another to drop your acessories back to 12v. im running 4200 watts and i dont get a huge volt drop. but audiobahns are nutorious for low current draw. big 3 comming with 1a gage.
