How to charge a cap with a 12 volt test light?

How to charge a cap with a 12 volt test light?

how do I do that or where can I find one of those resistors that some new caps come with(in ottawa)......the cap I have is used and don't wanna take any chances.

hook up one end of the test light to the power, hook the other end of the test light to the capacitor. Wait until the voltage across the cap is 12.8ish (just slightly less than your battery voltage) and then disconnect the light and hook the wire up directly

When you touch the test light to the cap + terminal it will light up bright as the current flows into the cap. As the cap fills up, the light gets dimmer until it goes out. At this point you can connect the power wire to the + terminal and get little to no spark.

Thats cool ... I always used a charging resistor .... didn't know the test light trick.
