Inverted Sub
Inverted Sub
Not sure if it was the right forums, but I guess i'm close enough. Lets say I have a box built to spec for my sub. I've seen some custom enclosures with subs inverted. Whats the advantage to that, and for kicks if do it to my box thats built to spec, just to see what it's like, is it bad for the sub? Is it better for SPL? Or SQ? Or is it just completely show. Thanks in advance.

as far as I know there is no advantage sound wise to inverting the sub.
It's basically all cosmetic, installers do it to show off the basket of the speaker. There are no differences in sound, however you would have to swap the polarity on the speaker so that it will be in phase with the rest of your system
My woofers are inverted for 2 reasons. First off I like how it looks, and secondly - the way my enclosure is shaped, near the back seat, the box doesn't have enough depth to clear the magnets if I mounted them the other way
