Are you sure it wasn't on before you removed the sub? It might have failed and taken your sub with it. If not then I have to ask, did you leave the speaker wires connected to the amp? If so were the other ends taped up or otherwise protected from shorting?

What are the make and model of your amp (I know its JBL) and of the new subwoofer you purchased? Are you sure you're putting the right load on your amp?
What happened to the previous sub? Perhaps something malfunctioned earlier to damage that sub...
I don't know. Just throwing ideas out there. Let's just make sure your current setup jives.

the speaker wires were disconnected. the make of the amp is jbl GTO301.1. the new sub i purchased was an alpine sd 12. the previous Rockford p1 was broken by accident when i threw my ice scraper in the back of my truck and put a hole right threw it, it was a rough morning with out subs lol.
now i have been trouble shooting the wiring all day its good i tried my buddies old amp just as a test and it worked fine. is there any way i can repair the inside of the amp??
thanks for the help so far!!!!
