First thing I would suggest is upping the sizing of your main power and ground to 4g units as a 8g main run for a 1000watt amp is rather weak.

Make sure you've got a good grounding spot.

What size is your factory alt?

yes first thing you should do is get more 4 gauge and upgrade your wiring to the amp because the T3-500D recommends 2 guage and says minimum should be 4 gauge.

then if it still dims bad i would say your next thing to do is either upgrade your ALT or buy a CAP and run your system with the CAP until your ALT fails or you can afford to upgrade your ALT

Check the resistance of your ground from the amp to the battery, anything more than maybe .5 ohm indicates a problem.

IMO if you're going to upgrade the power why not go to 1/0?

If you upgrade the power wire, verify that you have a good ground, and still have dimming, may as well try the cap.

Alternator shouldn't really be required wit that amp but it wouldn't hurt.

That amp will draw almost 100 amps all by itself. And you still have to run the car. Ign 5 amp, headlights 15, rear defog 20, etc. etc.The focus probably comes with a 105 amp alt. No wonder your lights dimm.

Here is a link for a remanufactured 200 amp alt.

You're welcome.
