hey guys, have a bit of a stumper for you. I just got a brand new set of Zapco I-12D subs, and a new Diamond D5 600.2 amp that I use bridged. Now I have the DVCs wired in series/parallel, the subs are dual 4ohm coils. So it is wired into a 4ohm load, now I have it hooked up and everything is ok, for a while, about 30 minutes of playtime and the amp goes into thermal. Shuts off for a few seconds and comes back, after a short cool down. I have a good ground, and it is getting enough power. Its not the deck, or any connections, so what the hell can it be??? Its a brand new amp, tested before I even bought it. Any sugguestions?? This amp get hot enough to almost burn your hands. Its crazy, I have installed many, many systems, never ever to see something like this. A bit more info, its in the trunk of a 1998 tercel, mounted to the back of a sealed box, on the back angle side (only place I have room for it for the time being until I build my new rack). I really dont know what the problem could be? Faulty amp>? Wrong wiring? Not able to bridge into a 4ohm mono load?? Im at a loss? HELP! And thanks in advance!

Does the same thing happen if you wire the subs parallel and then run the amp into 2 ohms per channel in stereo? I've also seen where the amp (especially on hot days) can not get enough fresh air to actually cool itself in the trunk without the assistance of some venting of the area around it...

Thanks for the sugguestion, I just tried it and after about 30 mins of pounding, goes thermal again. I am taking it to get tested again at the place I bought it. They think its just a bad amp. Seeing as it was tested to work when I purchaced it. They never tested it for 30 mins after a full load at 4ohms. But like I said, Im bringing it in for testing tomorow and I will go from there. Thanks again for the sugguestion, any others would help greatly.
