power problem...i think

ok, so i hooked everything in my car up today, first i put the deck in and made sure the speakers were all running fine, which they were. then i hooked the subs and sub amp up. It played for a few minutes, then suddenly the subs stopped playing music and started making odd popping and weird noises...i turned everything off, checked all the fuses and wiring, and tried again, with the same results. the amp wasnt getting hot, and the second time i wasnt even playing the subs all that loud(havent even cranked them up at all really yet) im going to go check it all again, but does anyone recognize this problem and possibly save me some time?

ya, just went out and gave it another go...the amp doesnt go into protect mode or anything...only thing i can think is that the fuse is blown...but i dont know how to tell if an agu fuse is blown...doenst look any different to me...

*edit* o...and would using slightly different wire for each sub matter? (1 sub has 10gauge the other has 12gauge)

If a fuse was blown the amp wouldnt be getting any power until you replaced the fuse.

I really have no clue what would cause that to happen.

Its just the sub amp that has this issue? Your other speakers work fine when the sub acts weird?

The last time it happened, did you notice if the amp was on or flicking on and off? Were your lights dimming a lot?

ok, long story short the car stopped powering anything completely except for a dimly light door open light on the dash....however today i hooked up the charger and tried to turn the car over...it gave me lights in "on" but they were pulsing, and i got a feeble/warbled key in ignition sound...then when i tried to turn the engine over i got a sparking sound...so im thinking something is shorting...in fact im almost positive. unfortunately i have no idea where the short is...and i think ima have to hire someone to find it, as ive checked all the wires i can find(some of the wiring is a bit of a mess as the previous owner didnt quite know what he was doing with his stereo and pulled a bunch of wires out and left them hanging)
