Strange problem with Apline IVA-w505 and Blackbird 2

Sorry if this is in the wrong place guys; seemed like a good fit.

Was wondering if anyone on here has any experiance with the w505 and blackbird (yuck blackbird, I know), and has seen this problem before.

Blackbird is docked in w505, and everything works great... except:

When using the "visual" key to view the NAV in dash while still listening to music, I do not get nav mix volume (do not hear the NAV's sounds mixed in with the music as I should).

Under w505 setup, Navi Mix is turned on, and Navi Mix Level has been tried at 1, 7 and 15.

What happens is the music will lower just a little bit when the NAV tries to speak directions, but there is no directions; just the lowering of the music source.

I went on with this for about a year (used to work with my 205 and a different blackbird... I honestly don't remeber if it ever worked with the 505) but I always just assumed it was more crap broken in the black bird.

HOWEVER

One day for fun, I actually switched the source (instead of just the visual display) completely to NAV, and low and behold, I got the nav voice over the speakers!! But if I switch back to some other source (CD / iPod / Sat / etc) and then use the visual key to view the nav, get the same problem with the non existant navi mix.

One clue might be that under the Blackbird settings, NAVI Mix Volume setting is set to 15 and greyed out... I can't remeber if it looked like that on the w205 or not.

Anyways, this is probably a complex problem with something broken, BUT if someone has seen this before and knows what I'm talking about, I would be so grateful if you could help me out!!!

Thanks all!

Alpine BLOWS!!!

I keep running into these compatibility issues between the two. It's pathetic! If it's not the bluetooth, it's the nav farkin up. I'm glad the box stores picked them up. It's their problem now.

Well, considering I've spent, oh, lets call it ~3000 bucks on Alpine HUs and HU accessories in the last 18 months, and am thinking of just chucking it all and starting over, I would tend to agree a little

Its a shame... back in the day I loved Alpine... but man they seem to have slipped a bit over the years.

Sigh!

Yes. It is a shame. They used to be THE BEST! Now they're on par with Sony.

Couldn't of said it better myself - frankly the F1 gear was great but dying OLED display and connection problems with the H900's is ridonculous.

I dont have a blackbird anymore as it died like they ALL do and have a P1 now but im pretty sure there is also a nav mix on/off option in the blackbird settings itself that also has to be turned on. Also are you running any kind of processing? Like me for example i have a 701 and had to but a $100 adapter for no other purpose then nav interupt, that had to have an rca run from the adapter to the 701.

In short though the blackbird was/is the biggest POS alpine has ever made and considering its cost (like a grand when it came out) thats totally unexceptible.

Im really considering switching my HU now that the MS-8 is out as the 701 is pretty much the only reason im using an alpine HU.
