What Kind of Amp Should I Get?
For Christmas I just got a new Sony deck and four 180W 3-way Pioneer speakers. I know this is not a very good system but since my car had Nothing before this I am happy.
Since my cheap Sony deck can't really give any power to these speakers I am looking at buying an amp. First thing you should know is that I really know nothing about car audio.
Ok now that that's out in the open I can ask some noob *** questions. Since I would be using the amp to power the four speakers in my car plus a future sub I would want to get a 5-channel amp right? Or could I get a 2-channel amp and run all four speakers off of one channel?
I guess what I am asking is how channels work for amps and what you would recommend I get?

A couple of different options. You can get a 4 channel run your fronts off 2 channels and then bridge the other two to run a 4 ohm sub while running your rears off deck power or putting the left front and rear on one channel and the right front and rear on the other. But you will have no fade control wired this way. Or get a 5 channel run each speaker off its own channel and then the last channel run a sub in either 2 or 4 ohms. As usually a 4 channel will only bridge down to a minimum of 4 ohms.
What is your budget on this amp.
