B.A. INHUMAN 12's-Need To Know

Hello,

Been out of the game for awhile now. Be good therapy for me.

Was running three JL 10w6 on a Soundstream Rubicon 1000, and a set of Alpine DDDrive 5 inchers for the front stage. Alpine 7939 deck through an Alpine 3342 signal processor. Bass was controlled through a Audio-Control Epicenter. Three one farad caps and trunk mounted optima. Sounded good. Have three blown 10w 6's.

Anyway this was years ago. I was in a Saskatoon car audio shop one day and bought 3 12 inch Beyond Audio subs as I was pissed with the JL's.

The company was new if it even existed at all at that point. But I popped for three of these 12" subs. To make a long story short they are still in the boxes brand new.

What would they compare to today? Are they any good? What's in em? Dual 2 ohm voice coils sounds familiar- Inhuman sounds familiar. They have a triangular logo on the cone.

What kind of box do I put these in. Anyone have any optimum specs for both sealed and ported? What kind of power should I run to them and what can I expect? Anybody know. All I was told was the were hard on windows kind of like a JUG which I had no idea on either.

They sure are heavy bastards. Anyone know the weight on these 12's either as I haven't ever had them on a scale?

I guess the company kind of went by the wayside- mabey the previous owner might remember selling three of these hot off the press and know what he sold me even though I dealt with some other kids. I had to wait a couple days to get them so the cones could dry.

Anyway any help on what kind of subs I have and their capability would help.

I now own a TrailBlazer SS AWD ,Vetted up. I figure I have enough room for three of these 12's so any help would be appreciated. I hope it'll be alot of fun testing these things out as they bring back some good memories. Isn't that what this is all about? Later...

Thanks.

They were made by DB Don, a user on here, but he doesn't come on very often any more. If you want to get ahold of him directly you can call him at the shop he works at now. Saskatoon's Audio Express, (306) 931-8841.
If he's not around Blaine should be able to help you out as well.

Oh, and congratulations... You have three badass subwoofers.

IIRC those subs came with a variety of coil and spider configurations.... a dmm will tell ya the coil's DCR which is at least a starting point...

Identification

Thanks for the help so far. My subs are reasonably robust but I am sure they do not weigh in at 50 lbs. I will have to scale one of them. They do have "Beyond Audio" imprinted deeply into the shiny magnet plate on the back for anyone who might be able to flash memory them.

They are all of 25 pounds each for sure in a 12 inch size. This was in like 2002 I think. I had a Buick T-Type at the time and was planning on placing three rear facing in the trunk-but after hauling them home the car just felt way too heavy, then I pictured the all the wood added to this.

I kind of want to power them up but I have no paperwork on them. I remember saying I wouldn't buy them if they had no packaging boxes for protection for the ride home so sales at the store dusted off some JL cardboard boxes which worked fine. No paperwork though. I think these were amongst the first subs that were ever really offered for sale to the public at that time.

Damn... you have some of the etched Inhumans... very rare... and were some of the earlier pieces that Don made. (I have a pair of Inhumans but they were a later pair and don't have the logo on the backplate)

In any case... I'm jealous as hell

For the users less knowing of these beasts, could you take a pic of the backplate, and the sub?

Rumors

Certainly, I will try to post some pictures of them here for after Christmas.

Anyone who has some performance stories on these "INHUMAN" 12's or recommended amp(s) and wiring schematics, please post.

I did read one post somewhere where one person replaced a JLW7 with a DVC "INHUMAN" 12 and said it he'd never heard a louder sub, and it actually broke out the rear window of the Honda CRX with a single "INHUMAN" 12 and he couldn't sit in the car. According to him it shamed the W7. I guess it's a small car and a hatchback, but does this sound possible? I could beleive in cracking a windsheild if it had a pre-existing star chip. But, this sounds "INHUMAN"... He also noted that the thing weighed 58.8 pounds-I will weigh mine later, but 25 or 30 pounds sounds like lots for what I have. Perhaps I am wrong. When I have more time to pull those shiny subs out of storage and get some answers. Thanks for the info and telephone connects. Be good to get power to these finally...after six years (never in a rush, LOL). My neighbours will love me.

Can they still be considered 'new' if they've never seen power, LOL.
