Designed a box, need some input
#11
My sub is actually a 10" Type-R. I know the title on my models suggest 12", but its just the name. I should probably change it, but it doesn't affect anything. I should have cleared that up.
I changed the parameters of the box as suggested above, and shows:
Green being the original design, and the orange is the same but with the correct parameters.
So I guess my box is actually not that bad. What do you think?
I'll keep playing around with tuning + displacement to see if I find something I like.
Thanks for the help everyone

Yellow: current enclosure (sealed)
Orange: Original design (vented)
Blue: Some other box I found on this forum (vented)
White: Same as above
Looking at that I think I'm going to go with the 'white' setup. 1.75ft^3 @32hz
Thoughts?

that's better! Yeah if space is an issue then choose the most appropriate one as all will deliver a lot more bass in the 25-80hz range vs. the sealed box. As far as port diameter or area, choose according to rear port velocity and try to keep it under 20 m/s, a 3" port with that set up will yield a port velocity of 75 m/s @ 500 watts...sure to create port noise at higher outputs.

How do I read port velocity? I see vent mach which gives me an answer without units.
Anyways with a 3"x11" port (has to be 11" due to the box height and I can't build a tube. Although I think I might pay someone to make it) the length will have to be over two feet (47").
From what I read about the port mach is that if its green there should be no port noise.

Or are you referring to Box->Box Shape->optimum? Does the shape of the box really matter as long as the vent/box is calculated properly?
#16
everything matters but when u are just a regular daily listener and not into any form of competition then it doest matter... not enough relevance to change the box shape ... its more convenient to build to fit your vehicle rather than use all available space just to get minimal increase

Which version do you have...winisd pro alpha .50a7? It might be a different version as the one I have doesn't have the vent mach.
