I was just curious, a fibre glass box I know is lighter then a MDF made box but is there any difference in sound? I am tinking about making or getting a generic box made to replace my current MDF box to reduce some weight in my car.... Is there a huge sound difference?

Well couldnt I just make a skeleton of a box outta MDF and then wrap it in fiberglass sheeting then put some resin on it? Or is that a sh*t way to go?

 

Fiberglass gains stregth in curves so making flat walls from it is a no no. If you have flat parts you can lay down a few dowels before you glass. This will make ridges that will add a lot of strength. Depending on how you make it they can be quite light when compared to the same size in MDF.

Well the box doenst need to be anything fancy... its just going in my trunk, wedged between my shock towers.... not a show piece.... does anyone out there make em? I may be looking for a builder lol...

 

We build a lot of fiberglass boxes and wood boxes are a bit louder but you can still make a fiberglass box pound. Make your frame out off wood and stretch your shape and add ateast 4 layers of glass, the more the better.
