i think every subwoofer should have a suggested enclosure to build for it, that is tested and proven to be efficient. it would save many people time as they would know exactly what enclosure to build.

take for example JL audio. i have yet to see a car audio shop that DOESN'T use their suggested enclosures, whether they are good or not.

Well said. As I already built a box and now am going back to the drawing board based on your advice. I should be a seasoned carpenter once this is all done.

But then the manufacturer has to guess what the user wants out of thier system. JL used to have a binder with all their drivers in it with enclosure suggestions for Audiophile, Average, and Bass Monster (or something like that). Back in the day when almost nobody had software it was a huge help for JL dealers.

These days I don't know how any shop operates without decent design software.
