okay i get that, just wondering if theres a performance difference between a box tricked into thinking its a certain size and an actual box of that size?...thanx all

Not enough to give up the space if it's needed. If you have the space and the money, then you can build a new box. At least this will give you a very good simulation of the outcome. I've personally compared it a few times in the last century and noticed little to no difference. As such I usually design my enclosures as small as possible, factoring in the polyfill solution, that will give me the desired response. It works well, and since you have the box already, it's an easy (and cheap) thing to try.
