thats my idea for a port design. the port needed to be longer than the depth of the box. the port is the same width throughout, but hugs to the sides of the box. would this sound good? i have another design as well..

this is the other design. this is the first box ive ever built, and designed. keep in mind these are just representations done on paint cuz i dont have a scanner.
so what do you think people?

 

i've done your first example, but both will work, but the second design will have increased port noise compared to the first design...

Design #1 works well. Be sure to smooth the angles and port ends as much as possible.
